Beefy Wontons

Serves 16 | 

A simple yet utterly satisfying side dish.



Ingredients:

10 oz lean ground beef
1 egg
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 package frozen chopped spinach, 10 oz
1/4 cup chopped green onions
16 egg roll wrappers
For the Sauce:
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
2 teaspoons chopped green onion

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except egg roll wrappers. Mix well. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Spoon filling evenly into center of each egg roll wrapper. Brush corners with water; press corners together to seal.
  3. In a large pot, bring 2 quarts of water to a boil over high heat. Add wontons. Cook, stirring occasionally, until wontons surface, about 10 minutes.
  4. Mean while prepare sauce by combining soy sauce and onion into dipping bowl. Place wontons on individual serving plates and serve immediately.
